Happy 2010! (And Happy New Decade for those who think a new one started this month – although technically the new decade doesn’t start until next year…and didn’t we debate this whole issue 10 years ago? lol) At any rate, it is a new year – the Year of the Tiger, I believe, a symbol of courage and fearlessness! And we’re going to need all the courage we can get…
Alack, another mid-month ToC. At least each issue’s stories stay on the front page for the same amount of time! But since two of the stories are Christmas related, be sure to read them soon. These include fictions by debut-to-these-pages author Francis W. Alexander (whose story is appropriately named “The Debut”) and a reprint of Nick Ozment‘s fable, “The Little Star.”
Yes, I know. I’m writing this mid-November but I figure you were too busy earlier this month to read all the features of Issue 3.5. So during Thanksgiving break, be sure to check out the two interviews and three short fictions by returning author R. L. Copple, and two new-to-this-zine writers Ray Foy and T. M. Hunter. What is it with all the initials anyway?
It’s that time of month again! Hmm, that doesn’t sound right. But it does mean that 5 new stories have magicamally appeared here at ResAliens – 4 by new-to-this-zine “freshman” authors and 1 returning “zine-ior” (get it?), Fred Warren. Let’s start with his SF piece, a thrilling, and up-lifting, space adventure. But then hold on, the stories following Fred’s get increasingly dark and disturbing, concluding with a subversive bit of fiction by Jeff Parish.
Now broadcasting in high definition storytelling. Welcome back! I’m excited to pack this issue with 5 solid-length short stories! Nothing against flash (I published three short fictions in August) but I thought we’d get into some real plot development this month. Plus, I’m featuring 4 new-to-these-pages authors, and bringing back veteran Stoney Setzer to round out 3.3.
Welcome to the second issue of our third year (albeit the first two years were intermittent at best!) – we’re on some kind of roll now. But seriously, thanks for sticking with ResAliens as we move from a hobby in my virtual garage to a token market pub to (we hope one day) a semi-pro zine. In this issue I’m excited to feature some artwork, introduce 3 new-to-these-pages authors, and bring back a veteran writer to headline 3.2.
Year 3! Wow. And here we are at a new website. The first two years (July 2007 to June 2009) were/are at what is now ResAliens Blog. Thanks for making the transition with us. In this first installment of volume 3, we feature some favorite authors who’ve made that transition: Patrick Cox, Brandon Barr, and Fred Warren. But we’re also excited to introduce a new-to-these-pages writer, Deborah Walker. Welcome all!
