I suppose if you enjoy baseball – OK, if you’re a baseball fanatic – and deal in the science of time travel, you have to expect a few surprises from time to time. Errors – those unexpected bloopers that can change the outcome of a matchup – are just part of baseball. And, of course, there is always that unpredictable element in science. Some call it chaos theory. I just call it part of the game.

We jumped down to Omega and into the middle of a war. As an arrow whizzed past my ear, the horrific, ear-piercing yells of the Jagaroths filled the air. The ground shook as the massive army ran toward us waving their swords and battle-axes. Our squadron sent bolts of fire down toward the racing warriors. The yellow lasers crackled as heads flew from bodies and arms from chests, spraying the mountain with blood. The groaning staccato from the wounded and dying blended into the battle cry crescendo of the fighters who stomped their fallen comrades.
